    Hi all-

My name is Angie and I would like to request prayer for our foster son, Johnny. Although I cannot be too specific (legally), I can say that this child was placed in our home at 10 days old, was reunified with bio-parents at 9 months old, and was returned to our home at 16 months literally near death (he weighed 15 pounds). He is now 31 months old. Bio-mom has dropped out of the picture and bio-dad has been told he will not get custody, but some aunts showed up out of nowhere and want to adopt him. This child knows only our home as his family. He has fetal alcohol effect, sensory problems, and has neurological problems that only intense therapy, and yes, intense prayer, will help him in the future. The aunt(s) have known that he was in foster care but they never bothered to see him. Now we have court on Feb 2 and it will be up to a judge, who has a history of saying “family first” regardless of the circumstance, to determine if this child will remain in our home or be removed. We are seeking adoption and since he’s been in our home for so long we have parental rights, but we are not blood. So, please, pray that the judge will hand us the victory in this case.

    Thank you,

    Angie A.

and if anyone is wondering or curious, our current family consists of my husband, myself, two boys who claim American/German citizenship, one anglo child, two racially mixed children & two direct Mexican-descent children (how’s that for blood!!!)

    Angie,

You all will be in my prayers. As for Johnny I will lift him up to the Lord, and we must remember that all things are through him though we don’t always understand his ways.

May God listen to your heart and the heart of this precious child who only he knows his greatest needs.

    Blessings

Long overdue, but I wanted to update this prayer request….the Lord handed us this child, and we adopted on December 17, 2009.  It was a long drawn-out court battle but in the end (after almost 8 months) the aunt who fought for Jonny eventually lost the case for herself as she showed she was not interested in adopting Jonny, but was trying to gain custody just so she could hand him over to dad.  So, effective 12/17, our family officially became TEN!!  This was a passionate case in which it was essentially the state, the bio-dad’s lawyer, the children’s lawyer and the judge wanted to return the child to “blood family” and it was only our lawyer and the CASA worker fighting for our side, but by the end EVERYONE was fighting for us, even the bio-dad’s lawyer seemed only to put up half a fight after hearing testimony (she’s considered one tough lawyer!).  As our pastor is fond of saying, God is Good, all the time, and all the time, God is Good!!  And, just as God is good, all the time, our lawyer decided, even after almost 8 months of his time, to hand this case to us pro-bono.  Just another cherry on the sundae!!

    Thank you for your prayers!!

I never read this post the first time – but Praise be to God! I am thankful the Lord put him in a godly loving family that will give him the care he needs. I commend you for fighting for him. I know you probably didn’t see any other choice but to do that (i.e. not to give up) but I am sure it was rough. I am very happy for you. Rejoicing in the Lord’s goodness and mercy with you!

What an amazing story! God is so faithful, isn’t He? That story is a testimony that will last you and your new addition the rest of your lives! And think of how wonderful his life is going to be!

    Congratulations!

    Angie-

I love reading this post and seeing how things worked out and the great things God has done and will do in Johnny’s life and yours as well!!  My oldest step-son was adopted by my husband and his ex-wife, he was foster baby in my mother in laws home, and such a wonderful blessing in all of our lives.

Thank you guys so much for your kind words.  I didn’t mention above that the CASA worker is a very strong, mature Christian woman who prayed the entire time, and had her entire church praying, that the truth would be revealed…and it was!  Thank you so much again!!
