Well, since I learned about Professor B from this forum let me say a big THANK YOU! It looks like it could be the answer to our math woes. While I really wanted to go with the CD version, in order to afford to get this and all my other materials for school, I ordered used copies of book one, the workbook and the charts. So, finally today all items have arrived and I can now look them over more thoroughly.

Well, I have to admit to being pretty overwhelmed. Is each chapter a lesson? Some are longer than others. Do we just dive in and work our way through, say, 20 minutes at a time? Should I enter it in the organizer by chapter or by objective? How do you actually DO this? Tongue out I’d appreciate any help with wrapping my brain around this and getting started.

    Thanks!

Each lesson-chapter is designed, I believe, to be mastered before moving to the next chapter. When I went through book 1 with my kids, each child had a different rate of completing. You have to your own judgement if your child is ready or not. My son was to book 2 very quickly, while the younger needed more time. They thought most of the material was fun.

I really like Professsor B, especially the beginning stages. We went onto Math U See a few months ago because my oldest was hitting upper level and I felt it was time to stick with a simple, solid program like MUS. I liked it so much that all my kids are doing it now, and have been very successful with it.

Not sure if that helps much. But just take it one page at a time and you should get the hang of it.

Thank you, simple home. It does say after each exercise to continue until learners are consistently correct (or acquire facility) and then move on. So I guess we’ll set our time, I’m thinking 20-25 minutes (9yo ds), and just do it. 🙂 I did find more clarity in how it all works together in the chart instructions (when all else fails, read the instructions, huh?). Boy am I glad the person selling the workbook included the charts. I probably wouldn’t have searched that out seperately.  🙂  I think I’m starting to get it.

    Thanks,

Yes, We used and loved this program last year and will continue in Book 2 this coming school year.  (although I am adding CLE sunrise math as well this year, I use Progessor B mainly to help me teach math a different way then I was taught).  I was confused at first too, but once I got going and went through each page it made more sense.  Just do it as you think your child needs it.  If they need more work, keep them at the one lesson before going on to the next.  Sometimes, for my younger daughter I had to go back to an earlier lesson and review it.

    Enjoy it!
