I just picked up Helen Taylor’s “Little Pilgrim’s Progress” at a thrift shop today.  Is this a good way to get my 6 and 8 year olds familiar to the story? Does she do the book justice?  Or should I just start them on the original (I have the version that’s in today’s English).

    Suggestions??

We have used this version and I think it’s a great intro. for the younger years.  It was recommended by people from Ambleside (can’t remember if it was on their site or other yahoo group moms).  Just my .02, but if it’s a deep work like Pilgrim’s Progress or Shakespeare I think it’s o.k. to use a kids version, as long as it it high quality like Taylor’s version. or Lamb’s Shakespeare, etc.  Maybe others will chime in:)  Gina

we’ve used this in the past years and we have really enjoyed it…hope to use the real thing sometime.  i’d recommend Talyor’s version.

I read Taylor’s version to my older two when they were 7 and 11. Now, I am reading the original to my son who is almost 10 and he has no trouble understanding.
