Wanted to be clear. That is 3 “pictures” not 3 entire books
CJKJParticipantI have found some great books with large prints at our Half Priced Books. We are studying Mary Cassatt and I got a book that has about 60 8″ x 10″ prints in it for $8. I got a general book about Impressionists for $4. I also got a Monet book from a library sale.
I think it is worth it to browse a used book store or Half Priced Books store.
Pam HMemberThank you for updating this, Misty. I live in a rural part of the country and wish I could find a Half Priced Book store, CJKJ!!!
missceegeeParticipantI’ve found many books online at half.com or ebay for very little. I always look for ones with large pictures and very little text. The Van Gogh book I have is fabulous and I paid $9 for it!
The way we generally do picture study is to use the painting as the backdrop on the computer for that week and I have 4×6 prints made for each child that they put into their Artist Photo Album where we label the picture w/ artist, title, date and anything they want to add. The big prints are FREE b/c I just downloaded and saved as a backdrop. I pay about 12 cents per print for their individual prints. I do think it’s easier to look at a larger one for actually studying the picture.

Oney_JonesMemberYour local public and college libraries should have some nice resources for picture study. See if they have one called The Great Book of French Impressionism. It has several large copies of the more famous Impressionists’ works. Our library actually has many nice “coffee table” books with famous paintings that work well for picture study.
