Picture Study and the Bible

    I need recommendations for a trusted and accurate resource for the study of biblical art/paintings.  We are a protestant family and we use an ESV Bible mostly.

    Can anyone recommend a wonderful book thay they have had a great experience with? Maybe something from Dover? But which one? Too many choices. Smile

    We have “The Life of Jesus in Masterpieces of Art” by Mary Pope Osborne.  We haven’t used it yet, but it looks pretty good.  The artwork is all old – think Giotto and Fra Angelico -ish.

    There was another book- by Madeline L’Engle? The Magnificent something? I think I borrowed it from the library a few years back and really liked it.

    Thank you Karen. I will look those up. 🙂 I only have a Kindergartner dd and a 3 yr old dd  so I was thinking of using something like that for our first picture studies to go along with all of the exciting bible stories that they love so much. Just to get our feet wet with picture study……
