  • I’ve been using Horizon phonics workbooks with my nearly 7yo son. I don’t push this, but he enjoys it, and I figure it reinforces his already good reading skills.

I’m wondering how important is it for him to learn about pronouns at this age/stage? They are starting to cover it in his wkbks, but I’m thinking about skipping over it. Isn’t that something that will start to be covered next year or even in his 3rd year?

Have you been going page by page? Would there be a reason to skip it other than just wanting to get through it faster? He will get it again (many times, likely), but since you are doing it anyway, you may want to just go with the flow of the book. My 7yo would be upset if I skipped a page in any book, so sometimes we do things for that reason alone. I figure if nothing else, it’s a good lesson in completing something in an excellent fashion.

    Blessings,

    Cindy
