Ladies,  I have got myself motivated again on the treadmill.  Though I need some audio to listen to in order to continue with it.  Can you suggest any good audio books (or a book and I can see if it’s on audio).  I will have to get them through the library for that’s my only option.

I like mysteries myself, but looking for anything that will “bring” me back to the treadmill to listen to it more!

I do not know if they are on audiobooks or not, but I really like Gene Stratton-Porter.  I read Laddie recently and LOVED it.  I added a few other books by her to my Christmas list.  I also really like Christy by Catherine Marshall.  Both are great mother culture reads.

I don’t know if you can do this, but I listen to Nancy Leigh DeMoss Revive Our Hearts programs (via Podcast from my computer) while I exercise. If you have any favorite radio programs (Family Life, Focus on the Family, etc.) you might be able to listen to them while doing the treadmill.

Have you read the Mitford series by Jan Karon?

I just read Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke. It is a series and set in the Little House on the Prairie time period. Not a mystery, but very sweet and good. 🙂 I also really liked Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Totally different from Love Comes Softly, but very good too.

I am looking forward to hearing some more suggestions on this thread. I’m always looking for a good read! 🙂

I love Janette Oke.  Also, like Grace Livingston Hill for fiction.

I LOVE to listen to Agatha Christie’s mysteries on audio.  They are not at all gory and keep my attention.  The stories that are read are good, but if you can get a “full cast dramatization” from your interlibrary loan department that would be a real treat!  It’s like listening to a play!  The same with the first Mitford book on audio, that one has an all star cast and I know you would love it!

So I looked into these books.. found some and requested them.  Thank you.  Now with the Mitford books.. Can anyone tell me the 1st one in the series.  I hate when I find a good series and miss 1/2 of it or try to go back wards it just makes it harder.  Agatha Christie is a great idea!  Thanks ladies I know this will keep me motivated to stay going on the treadmill.  Blessings Misty

Belles of Timber Creek series by Lori Copeland: Twice Blessed; Three Times Blessed; with the 3rd (and I believe final in the series) to come next year. I read Three Times Blessed first not knowing there was on that came before!

Recorded Books does a great job with Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Hi, Misty!  I have almost everything Mitford.  The books themselves, the storyline books, are, in order:

At Home in Mitford; A Light in the Window; These High, Green Hills; Out to Canaan; A New Song; A Common Life; In This Mountain; Shepherds Abiding; Light from Heaven

HTH!  Glad you are enjoying Mitford!

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.   It’s not a mystery, but it’s awesome.

The O’Malley Series by Dee Henderson.  They are Christian mysteries.  All are good, but some are better than others.  The first one is The Negotiator.

Anything from Francine Rivers I’ll read, once or twice.  Not mysteries, but the Mark of the Lion series will keep you guessing.
