My 2nd grade daughter has been a slow reader. But she just read First Steps all by herself and was so excited! She took the book off by herself, got a blanket and got all cozy in a chair (like she sees big sister do) and was reading! Then she came to me periodically and narrated what she had read. She has been so happy about it! Now she has put “books”on her Christmas wish list. Are the 1st grade readers from Pathway Readers much more difficult?
Thank you,
Shari
ErinDParticipantI thought First Steps WAS one of the first grade books. I looked at Rainbow Resource, and it is included in the first grade package, but is considered a pre-primer.
Anyway, Pathway readers increase in difficulty pretty gradually, so I think if she’s doing well with First Steps, then Days Go By and More Days Go By will be good for her, too. I’ve had four boys go through them and none ever had trouble with the next one after finishing the previous one.
I love the whole series. 🙂
JamieParticipantThat is so great!! ❤️❤️❤️📚📚📚
HollySParticipantWe have several of these readers, but my kids never got into them. 🙁 I will say they gradually increase in difficulty. She should have no trouble continuing the series. If she does, you can always find another reader at the same level to work on. Treadwell and McGuffey readers are both available for free online.
retrofamParticipantElson readers are free online too.
Theups1ParticipantThanks y’all!
