My ds(7) gets crazy excited over not so excitable ideas or things.  He will laugh histerically at a joke that makes no sence, or if he sees something he likes its “WOW LOOK AT THAT” at the top of his lungs.  Sonya mentioned in the Laying Down the Rails DVD about this type of behavior, using excessive language for common situations, but how do you correct this type of behavior.

I also thought to mention that he is on the autistic spectrum, having bits and pieces of autism and aspergers but not enought to really catagorize as either.  I’m now wondering if he is the same with ADHA.  He dosn’t seem to have all the “symptoms” of ADHD.  Just as with the autism its some of the symptoms, but not enough to really deem him ADHD.  I haven’t had him tested though.

Any thoughts on how to correct this behavior or what worked for you would be appreciated.

I just read a book called “Stop A.D.D. Naturally” by Billie J. Sahlye, Ph.D., C.N.C.  I found it very interesting.  It talks about the different amino acids and minerals that have been found to help with A.D.D. and a host of other symptoms.  I have not yet tried them but I have a friend who has and has had wonderful results with her son.

I agree with pangit.  I also think preservatives Such as BHA, BHT, BHQT, Nitrites and Nitrates are a major culprit.  I also think red dye 40 and yellow 5 are the worst!  They also give ADHD symptoms.  I personally beleive if they took these products off the market along with a few other carcinagenics we could probably eliminate ADD/ADHD altogether!  At least a majority of the cases.

Thanks for the info.  We had been on a better diet that didn’t have a lot of that stuff in it, but with the end of my pregnancy and then depression our diet has gotten really bad.  I’m better know and need to start working on our diet again.

I think part of it is natural boy-ish energy leaking out. Are you giving him tons of physical outlets for that energy?

And I agree, we saw a huge difference for some of our children (we have 5 boys 2 girls) when we removed food dyes, red especially. We are working on keeping our eating cleaned up and notice a difference in behavior.
