For those of you who use Notebooking Pages, is it worth the price?  They’re having a sale right now for $75 for a lifetime membership and that would inculde access to an app to create your own notebooking pages or copywork pages for a period of time.  I like the idea of them having a special page to record things on and make themselves a journal/notebook out of.  But I’m just not sure, yet.  My oldest DD struggles with reading and writing and I wonder if this would just cause a headache.  My youngest excels and I wonder if this would provide her a way of working into written narrtions and recording what she is learning on her own.  Is it worth it or will I just wish I’d spent the money else where?

A good rule to go by is to ask yourself if you do it now.  If you are willing to put the effort into making sure your kiddos have notebooking pages now, this will be a boon for you.  However, if you are hit and miss in this area, generally speaking, no amount of notebooking pages access will make you a consistant user of them, if that makes sense.  In my experience, this is true across the board whether you’re thinking about curriculum or special appliances.  It seems to be a good rule to follow.

I’ve not really done anything with notebooking pages at all yet.  We’ve played things rather low key for the most part so far.  But, my oldest is going into 4th grade and I figure it is time to step things up a bit and require a more.  I was thinking this might be a way of doing that.

Are you incorporating now or for the next year?  If you’re still doing school, why don’t you try some of their freebie pages to see if this is what you want before committing to the set?

For what it’s worth, I did buy the set but that was before the current deal where you have lifetime membership, etc.  Anyway, it is worth it for us with science, but I seem to have more trouble using them with the kids for history though that’s somewhat cyclic.  I’m not sure whether that’s me or them. However, as I suggested above, I “test drove” by using the freebies first.  Smile

We have it and love it. What I do is two fold:

    1. Print out a large file folder full of generic templates kids can use for anything (science, literature, etc). They grab these anytime.

    2. Print out pages specific to our history studies and stick in a file folder. Then the kids can grab one of these as appropriate. Sometimes I’ll print specific ones for a science study if we plan the study ahead too.

I am considering the membership also. I already use her free ones and purchase from currclick! I have a reluctant writer and one who does well. Both have benefited from them! I think they love that they can either draw or have a pic that goes w/ what we are studying about. Also, they like putting it in their appropriate notebooks to look at again or “show” off! 🙂 HTH
