We love SCM’s Picture Study Portfolios, but we are a multi-racial family and I would like to incorporate some great art and artists that look like my children.  I’m not sure where to start besides just using Google.  We have African American, Mexican and Indian represented in my home.  🙂

A couple years ago we spent some time with Henry O Tanner. He has a lovely realism-style painting of the Annunciation that my children adored.  Sorry, but that’s all I got. We switched to SCM portfolios after that.

Maybe you could look through anthologies of artists from the countries you’re interested in and find a few you like.

I enjoyed the picture book, A Splash of Red: The Life and Art of Horace Pippin.

Are you wanting books to use or the names of artists?

    Mexican–Frida Kahlo; Diego Rivera

    African-American–Edmonia Lewis

Indian–are you looking for Asian Indian or Native American?
