I am new to the Organizer, but not to CM education.  Anyway, I have looked at the video tutorials a few times and wonder… is the ‘omit this assignment’ button a replacement for ‘skip assignment’? Will it TOTALLY take the assignment off unless it is re-scheduled?  I was hoping it was ‘we aren’t doing this today, even though it is scheduled.. take it off so I can print only what we do today, and save it for tomorrow’  😀  Or is there a ‘hide the assignment’ option I am missing?

Also, I may be wrong.. did I see somewhere in the video where we could ‘mark’ upcoming days (such as Thanksgiving break) as non-school days?  And when our school year ends? Wondering about wrapping up a year and starting a new one and we’ve only completed two ‘official’ weeks 🙂

The forum has been very helpful, even though this is my first post.. I have been reading and reading previous posts.  So much great advice!

Congratulations on your first forum post, Hilda. Welcome!

is the ‘omit this assignment’ button a replacement for ‘skip assignment’? Will it TOTALLY take the assignment off unless it is re-scheduled?

Yes, the skip assignment button in the video was later renamed to omit this assignment. When you use that option it totally removes that assignment because you are not going to do it at all. We renamed it to say “omit” because people were getting confused thinking that “skip” meant you could skip it for now and come back to it later.

If you want to save an assignement for later you can simply ignor it and it will show up the next day of the week that resource is scheduled.

I know that if your print your assignments that doesn’t fix it for the print out. I guess we have to weigh the idea of adding another button to hide an assignment for now versus the simplicity of crossing it off on your printed page. Smile More options add more complication so we’re very careful about cluttering the interface with too many things. We would certainly be interested in hearing everyone’s feedback on how important this is to them.

The CM Organizer doesn’t currently have anything like that. You can freely ignore assignments during that time and they will be waiting when you return to schooling.

And when our school year ends? Wondering about wrapping up a year and starting a new one and we’ve only completed two ‘official’ weeks 🙂

You don’t have to do anything to wrap up a school year and start a new one. Just keep on schooling as you like.

In your account settings you can set the date for your school year. All that does is let the CM Organizer know what date range to include when it creates school year reports for you. In fact, you can change your school year dates at any time and the reports will adjust accordingly.

If you click on the little triangle beside a resource in the daily plan it sort of minimizes that book/resource so you just see the title.  When you print the to-do list, it doesn’t show up at all.  That is how to have it not show on your printed list.    And yes, then it is still there the next time that resource was scheduled.

    Okay, thanks.

I am not sure if we will be printing our days often.. but when we do, it is nice to know that trick to minimize the resource 🙂

One more question about the dates…

I can only schedule a ‘start’ date in the account settings.. is this becuase I haven’t purchased yet? I am still using my free trial days.

I plan to spend the trial days getting some resources in and learning the system, I am enjoying it so much, I will be purchasing the year subscription.

You can only ever schedule a start date.  The resource is finished once you are finished it…. you aren’t setting a deadline for it to be finished.
