Hi– i have four children, 11,8, and 6yr old twins. We have used sonlight, My father’s world and i am now thinking of using CM methods exclusively. My question is how to change over-do i start this year, March, or do i wait until next year? I know i want to finish the study of the romans for the rest of this year and then go into medieval times next year. So history is really taken care of except which books i will use. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

    thanks

    Hi, Pam –

You could start easing into some CM methods now and add more as you’re ready. Here’s a little article that might give you some ideas about making the transition in steps.

If you want some suggestions about Medieval books, you can check out our new history module 4 and the titles we recommend for the various ages. One easy way to combine all the children for history is to read aloud all together the books for the younger ages, then assign additional books to the older child as independent work.

    Hope this helps!

    Pam,

I suggest taking the transition in really small steps. I discovered the CM method a couple months into my first year of homeschooling, and have making small transitions throughout the year. I am hoping to go completely CM for next year (September). I recommend doing a lot of research and asking opinions of this forum. I have bought and rejected several things throughout the year based on the wisdom of the people on this forum. It’s a great sounding board, and I’ve found that there’s always someone here who has used what I am researching.

    Faith 🙂
