  • I have a second grader. She loves getting up and completing work on her own before we start. She calls it her morning routine. We used to be able to do that with the old curriculum. Not CM-method. Now, with CM I am not sure what to give her to do. . I don’t know how to go about doing this with the CM approach. I want to continue fostering in her the desire to teach herself and be independent. What can I do? She reads very well. I’ve read if child is a good reader they should read some of their materials on their own. I thought, I could have her read a book or two from our curriculum independently (next year). Any thoughts? Please help.

Perhaps some free reading, handiwork, artwork, composer listening?  Those things that don’t require your input as much and don’t necessarily call for a particular level of skill or output?

The fact that she desires and maintains a morning routine is both sweet and beneficial, imho.

Thank you Alphabetika. Those are great ideas.
