New to CM

    Even though my oldest is just almost 5, I’ve been researching homeschool methods and curriculum for years. I thought for the longest time that I would use My Father’s World with my kids. But as Kindergarten begins in the fall, I’ve decided on a more Charlotte Mason approach.

    One thing I’m wondering about…..what’s the benefit of doing a 6 year history cycle instead of a 4 year cycle? Could I do a four year cycle and still use SCM?

    You can use any history cycle you would like. Charlotte Mason is more a method of teaching/learning than it is a specific curriculum or time frame.

    There is an article on how to use the SCM history modules that you can read here. If you scroll down through the article, you’ll find a section entitled, Quick Points about Our History, Geography, Bible Modules, which explains the thinking behind SCM’s six-year cycle.
