After LfC A, B (and maybe C, I’ve read of people skipping C and going into LA 1), comes Latin Alive 1-3, a middle and high school program starting in the “7th” grade.
On the Classical Academic Press site they recommend:
- Q: What curriculum do you recommend for students who have completed LFC?
- A: The Latin Alive! is a three year, middle school to high school curriculum that we offer and is a wonderful next step for Latin for Children graduates.
- If you choose to look into another program, we recommend a “reading based” program, such as The Oxford Latin series, Ecce Romani, or the Cambridge Latin series.
Henle is recommended over at Memoria Press after Latina Christiana II.
I am getting some things new (at Christianbook) and some used/new (from Amazon), so that my final price is lower than the bundle price. Plus, the activity book isn’t necessary, unless you just have a child that likes that sort of thing (one of mine would, and one wouldn’t). You can also search the well trained mind forum for the For Sale items and you may score there. Foreign Language support is the only thing for which I will plop down a goodly amount of money at one time (at least until high school math comes around!
); otherwise, I spread my purchases of living books throughout the year.
I have experienced in our Hebrew studies, the value in interactive DVD, CD-ROM and audio learning helps; at least if you want the foreign language to really stick for the young ones, IMO.
