I’m still trying to figure out narration. Do I make requirements such as they have to use complete sentences, can’t use slang, etc. My 9 year old doesn’t have a lot of experience narrating but she has does some. Her narrations are a string of “and, and, and”, “But before that”, “and so-and-so, she did…”, and she uses so many pronouns it’s unclear who she’s talking about. Is this normal or do I try to improve on this and if so how?

Good question…I am interested in what everyone has to say. I don’t have any answers for you Tara because I am in the same boat.

Sounds like Charlotte had the same experience you’re having, Tara. Here’s what she said about it:

It is not wise to tease them with corrections; they may begin with an endless chain of ‘ands,’ but they soon leave this off, and their narrations become good enough in style and composition to be put in a ‘print book’! (Vol. 1, p. 233)

    Thanks, Sonya (and Charlotte!)
