We are very excited to move to our new home next week.  We are buying a smaller house but such a prime location!  It’s 1200+ square feet with usable space in basement.  My husband grew up in something similar with 3 siblings.  We have 4 dc too!  I’m surprised by everyone’s comments that we are crazy, it’s too small, wait until their teens…

Ive been reading some things looking for ideas on how to downsize.  Things like creative storage,  multi-purpose furniture, etc.  I’m not doing too well utilizing my library so I wanted to start buying books but now I’m not sure where to keep them!  I don’t mind a smaller house but I’m feeling rather discouraged.

How do you do it?  Any tips, blogs, etc?  Thanks.

We have three kids in a smaller house that has zero storage. We learned to part with a lot of things that we just didn’t need. We also have a lot of shelving and stackable bins. Boots and coats are still an issue as our porch is small (actually, it’s more of a hallway than any kind of porch). We got a bench with storage underneath and that has helped to trap mitts, hats, etc. I also like to browse Pinterest for ideas. There was a cute example of a coat tree, which painted to the wall and then has hooks. I thought that was cute…if only I was artistic…lol

I love our small house though. It’s made me really evaluate the things we purchase and learn how to focus more on needs instead of wants. 🙂
