Do you write down and compile your children’s oral narrations for the school year?  I seem to remember reading to do this, but I can’t find anything about it.  We are about to begin narration in a few months for my year 1 daughter, so I’m trying to prepare!

    Thank you!

    No.

Wow, that seems like it would be a lot of work.

When my oldest was younger (around age 9 or so) I did transcribe one a week. It was a transition into him doing written narrations, which he does on his own now.

I have not written up any of their narrations.  But next year I want to work my DD towards written narrations, so like jawgee, I plan to write them as she tells me.  Then we’ll transition to her writing them herself.

I’ve never written down all of their oral narrations, but I have made certain to have several samples from each subject they narrate over the course of the year. We have a portfolio review done prior to the beginning of the next school year, and the teacher that reviews their work likes to see a sample of work from the beginning, middle, and end of the year for the academic subjects.
