We are going to be using Module 2 this coming year (which for us, begins in June) with our 8yo- “grade 3”.  I was wondering if any of you have gone ahead and used any of the books for the “next level up” for your younger children.  For example, I think I’d like to use The Children’s Homer, A Wonder Book and Archimedes and the Door of Science in addition to the books for her grade.  I know she won’t revisit Greece in depth until 8th grade, so I’d like for her to have gotten to these neat books, and not skip them all together, as they’re only scheduled for the grades in which she won’t be in Greece.  I hope I’m making senseUndecided

    Thanks Ladies!

    Hi LillyLou,

We’re just finishing Module 2 with our six and eight-year-olds.  Though we didn’t add any of those books to our formal lessons, I read from A Wonder Book some evenings and put Archimedes and the Door of Science in the free reading basket.  My eight-year-old loved Archimedes and the Door of Science so much that he’s checked it out from the library to re-read a few more times.

Another option would be to use A Wonder Book for her literature selection in a future year.  Actually, I guess you could assign any of those books under different subjects in other years or keep any in the free read or family read-alouds so they would not be skipped.  For our own family situation, it would have been more than I would have wanted to do formally.

    Best,

    Richele

    Richele,

Thank you so much for your feedback; I hadn’t even thought about offering them as “other reading” later!  That would be a great way to keep the details of this time period fresh in our minds as we go through other modules.  I think I’ll use that idea for all the modules!  YAY!  This is one of those “aha!” moments that really give me a lift.  Thanks for facilitating Laughing

I love this forum.  It seems like there is always an answer floating around waiting for the right question to be asked LOL.

    Blessings,

    LillyLou
