I can’t help but laugh at us all. Each of us seems to be paying such close attention to the other. We notice every move we each make. This homeschooling thing is such a blessing, but also such a confusing thing, is it not? If only we could each trust OURSELVES and trust GOD to lead us in the correct direction for OUR families. That is my prayer for each of us … especially for ME. I get it all figured out and then I am “addicted” to connecting with other like-minded Mamas, so I constantly peruse the web … then, I get mixed up again.

May I learn to trust myself and God in all the decisions that I make for my family and our homeschool.

May I learn to “connect” with other like-minded mamas online without changing my mind about what I feel is right for my family.

May I find PEACE in my homeschool, not perfection.

May each of my favorite mamas find the same thing.

    🙂

Love and blessings to each of you on your journeys. Good luck with the sales, Erin. Kathi ~ trust yourself. You have a beautiful year planned for your family. I’m sure God had HIS hand in that. Leave it be. And, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take that in any sort of negative way. I’m mostly trying to convince MYSELF. 🙂

    Love and light.

Kathi, I don’t think Doug wants us posting our e-mail, but to send in a pm. I think you start to get lots of spam or something. You could contact him to change it if it is too late for you to edit.

You all are sweet. 🙂 I will email you, Kathi. I just found that Mod1 was too much right now for my 2nd grader and K’er, mostly because we did MFW1 last year and Ellie tagged along, so much of this is a repeat of early Bible history, with the exception of Ancient Egypt, but she just was not connecting with it (again, they’re young). It is lovely and wonderful, but not for this year. My girls are 7 and 5 and Gracie (7) asked to take a break from the OT right now. I still hope to use SCM (and if we start up next year and re-try Gracie will still get through all 6 Mods before hs), but I need the funds that I spent on Mod 1 to pay for this year’s materials that I now need again. Lol. Love you ladies so much!

I should also preface that we’ve been home 12 weeks with our 5-y-o Ethiopian who has a severe attachement disorder and so our homeschool doesn’t look quite like I imagined it would, at all. We are thus reveling in our Vos NT, Queen language lessons, math lessons for a living education, all nature sings, art, poetry, copywork, handwriting, music, Burgess, read alouds, and outdoor time. The rest (history/geo) is icing on the cake and so I’m not overly worried right now about true history … maybe that sounds bad … but, it’s honest.

Erin.kate – the Oxford book is used in Modules 1, 2,  and 3.  If you are really going to use SCM for Module 2 and 3 you will probably want to keep it. =)  Good luck with the kiddos!

I just have to chime in on this. I know exactly what you all mean. Last year I was all set to go completely CM. Then after reading this and that began to doubt and so went another way. Oh how I wish I had listen to my extinxts (whih I believe God gives us mammas). This year had seemed so disjointed and all over the place. I am trying to puch through this year since there are no funds to start over and next year I have promised myself and God to listen!

    IrieMomma,

You are so right!! I am just like you! I too have been known to do the exact same thing that you said in your post. I compare myself, and my home schooling to others and think we should be doing things “this way, or that way” or wonder why I just can’t get this or that. You know I love home schooling, but it can also be very confusing and hard and discouraging.  I realized I needed to seek God in my schooling and his will for our school and allow him to guide me and not others. It still can be hard, I too have learned to find peace in what God would have us do, and not always get the “grass is greener over there” attitude. Its much better to do whats best for you and your children then anything else, we mommas know our children best and our lives and homes best. If we do the best we can then the Lord will take care of the rest.  Im so thankful that there are other moms that feel the same way! Smile
