ParticipantDo you do only scripture memory, or do you also add in other things like poems, hymns, songs, prayers, prose, or ??? I thought I remembered CMs list of attainments for a 6 year old has some foriegn language songs and poems that were to be memorized. If you do have your dc memorize other things, I was wondering if you would add those into your scripture memory box? Or keep them completely separate? So having a separate time of the day for doing memory work vs scripture memory?

ParticipantWe use our memory box for for all of our memory work – Scripture, poetry, etc.

ParticipantWe use our scripture box for other memory work also. I put catchecism questions on the back of the scripture and added an extra card with whatever we are memorizing to be moved along with the scripture. not sure if that makes sense ; )

ParticipantI also just put them right in with the scriptures…. so in our new spot we might have a scripture, a poem, a promise for scouting, or whatever else needed to be memorized…. up to about 3 things. I move things back as they are memorized.
btw – one little tip…. I put a small number in the corner of all our cards…. if the box falls and all the cards get dumped out, I can recreate them by putting the biggest number in new, the next biggest 2 in odd/Even, etc….

ParticipantWell, yes…. and no. The cards have all been dumped out – but they already had the numbers on them…..
I guess I learned from the experience of others…. When I setup my cards I remembered listening years ago to my dad talking about when he programmed computers with punch cards (remember those? little yellow index type cards with holes punched that the computer would read…) – and how important it was to number the cards because it was a MAJOR disaster if you dropped your box of cards…. it would take hours or days to put them back in order if they weren’t numbered.
