Ready to make my math program order…..Down to Math-U-See vs. Right Start….Anyone have strong cautions/recommendations for either? I am just starting homeschooling and have four little ones so don’t mind making a bit of an investment (especially since these programs used on ebay seem to sell for as much used as new! I feel like I can get my money back if I want.)

Want to make a good choice.

Thanks for any help you can give!

    Hi,

I won’t be much help but there is another thread about this same question just the other day and one of the mothers is using a free program that is CM friendly and appears to work just as well as math u see and right start.  I currently have my son in a web based program that is CM friendly.  ALEKS they throw periodic assessments in to make sure they know the concept.  Each grade has a pie chart in the sections of the pie are the things they need to master to get to the next piece.  They also have a quick tables section so they can learn their math facts with games thrown in.  My son loves the computer so this is a good fit for him.  Grading is based on the Quizes you throw in to make sure they know that they are mastering the topics.  Although my ds is in 5th grade, he is in 4th grade because when I pulled him I found there were some topics he just didn’t get, but we are almost ready to make the switch to 5th grade 🙂  The other thing I like about it is if they don’t get something there is an explain button that they can go to, it explains it in detail on how to do the problems 🙂  I actually now understand fractions (my weakness) better!  I hope this helps.
