I am new to homeschooling. My 3rd and 4th grade kids both recieved a D in Math in their public school.  This is one reason I pulled them out.  Since they are struggling so and do not have multiplication facts down yet, does anyone have a suggestion on where to start with them?  I am looking at Right Start.  I am not sure if I should start with C or D, or possibly go back to B.  BTW, my 3rd grade son is also dyslexic, if anyone has help there.

    Thank you!  Ashley B.

Did you do the Right Start placement test with them?

I recently had my 3rd grade daughter to an educational consultant. She was recommended by Susan Barton, who has the Barton Reading System for dyslexics. Carol, the consultant, not only works with children with dyslexia, but will do math consultations. My daughter will be starting the Barton Reading System as well as using a research-based math teaching method that is not found in published curriculum. This I am receiving from the consultant. After we go through this program, she recommended Math-U-See. If you are interested in getting in touch with her, PM me and I will give you her contact information. She is very good. Fortunately, I was able to meet face-to-face with her, but she will do consults by phone and internet. HTH

psreitmom….I would love the contact information as well.   We’ve tried RS and MUS with our dyslexic son.  We are contemplating Barton, but it’s very expensive.  He’s been accepted and is on a waiting list for the Scottish Rites program, hopefully starting this fall.  He is currently in “2nd grade”, but certainly not at that level of work.  I’ve been doing a ton of research and can use all the help I can get.
