I will be teaching a 14 wk manners class to PreK children and another to 1 and 2nd grade children. Each class will be 50 min in duration. These are all home schooled children. I am interested in suggestions/recommendations re what books and materials to use.

I have not taught a manners class yet, but I have a book that I am going to use with my children for a manners/personal development class. It is The Gift of Good Manners by Peggy Post. It starts from birth/age 1 and goes up with very practical instructions on teaching manners. It is not a workbook or lesson book, but it is the best manners book I have found (and I’ve looked at quite a few).

I know of Little Annie’s Art Book of Manners is very popular and you may be able to keep the pre-k’s attention with it.

My daughter, when 5, was in a Show and Tell with Manners class. It was set up as show and tell and the teacher taught manners along side. They focused on listening, giving full attention, asking polite questions and other things. My daughter really enjoyed it.

Also, there is a book called Oops, Your Manners are Showing. I’ve only seen it in passing, but cbd.com should carry it.
