We are using module 1 for our first grade history. I only have one student and don’t think the book of centuries would interest my son as far as history goes. Im looking for something I can put on the wall that would grab his attention and get him interested in history. Any suggestions? Although I am starting a family book of centuries as well!
momto2blessingsParticipantWe have this one: http://www.learningthroughhistory.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=H&Product_Code=HT-06. Oops…just noticed your son was only first grade. It’s probably too much info. for him. We have ours on our school table w/a clear tablecloth over it. I don’t know of any that might be more attention grabbing for that age…but probably wouldn’t worry about it too much at that age if you’re starting a family BOC:) Blessings, Gina
danceandbegladParticipantGood morning Cayce! This looks like a neat resource, if you have the room!

You could probably make your own though with some posterboard and a yard stick. That may help him get more interested, too!
crazy4boysParticipantWe do something like this: http://www.homeschoolinthewoods.com/HTTA/TimelineHelps/
You can make it as big or as small as you want. You could put it on paper or foam board instead of directly on the wall. Use different colors or not. Only one time period at at time or all of history. In our last house we had it on the big ugly blank wall in the upstairs hall where no visitors ever came. In this house it’s probably going in the basement. I print out the pictures I’ll need and have the kids color them and I stick them in a baggie. We tape them on when we actually study the person or event.
caycecronkMemberThanks guys! Will take a look at your links you shared later. Am gonna try to get a wall timeline up this weekend. I think we are gonna do a family BOC as well because it helps me to help go along with the kids and learn it myself. It’s kind of fun adding things and pictures to the BOC notebook! I thought something simple and eye grabbing would work well for my two year old and six year old who love colorful fun things!
amandajhilburnParticipantI made my own timeline and an eBook to help others do the same. Here is a link if you are interested.
