ParticipantMy son is almost 8 and he is obsessed with Lizards! He also loves toads and frogs. We live in the dessert and he’s always out looking for lizards to catch and observe. I looked in the CM organizer but I couldn’t find anything. Does anyone know of a living book on lizards? I was hoping for more than a picture book but am not opposed. We’ve been reading a lot of the adventures of…books by Burgess so I was hoping for something like those. Maybe? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

ParticipantMy kids really enjoyed the Among the… series by Clara Dillingham Pierson. They arent specifically lizards but I know Among the Pond People has frogs and such.

ModeratorNic Bishop is a fantastic wildlife photographer and author who has published several books for children, including ones focused on lizards (Nic Bishop Lizards) and frogs (Nic Bishop Frogs). His books usually have some minor evolutionary content, such as a reference to millions of years, but the overall content of his books is focused on different species around the world and how they live. Look for the full versions of his books, not the ones adapted for the Scholastic Readers.

ParticipantJim Arnosky is great also. The library always has a ton of his books. Maybe too picture booky, but my older elementary daughter enjoys them.
