As I was looking over the literature suggestions, I wondered if these are meant to be read out loud or assigned. Obviously, if the child isn’t reading fluently you would read aloud; but what about the older ages?

    Thanks

We used them as family read-alouds up through the selections around grade 9. The grade 10-12 books I let my older children read independently, because some of the content would be too intense or confusing for the younger children to listen in. Probably when I get to the stage of having just older children, I’ll do those as family read-alouds too.

Thanks, Sonya! Which group would you start with, then, if you had a 13, 11, 7, and 6 yr old?

Well, some of it depends on which books your older ones have already read. If they haven’t done the Chronicles of Narnia, you could start with module 3. Over all, I’d probably start around 3 or 4 with that age spread. Just my opinion. Smile
