Has anyone ever used Life of Fred as a supplement with Right Start????  We are half way through Level B, but I would like to find something to make math more interesting and lively for my dd (7.5yrs).  Would Life of Fred work well as a fun supplement with RS.  All thoughts welcome!!!

That’s what we do!  Not because we need a “supplement” but because it’s fun.  We have Living Math Friday and either do Life of Fred together (1 or 2 chapters) or some other living math book or game.  My older boys (ages 11) are actually working through the LoF elementary series on their own because they like it…. and I’m sure they’re picking up some new math here and there as they go.  If you have the funds I think LoF is a wonderful investment.

Hi.  I’ve never used Right Start so I can’t speak specifically about that, but LOF is very good.  I don’t think it really matters what other curriculum you are using, LOF will add and be a benefit!  They learn math and math concepts. They really have to think, but it is done in an such entertaining and enjoyable way that they don’t mind.  It also encourages reading!  There is so much non-math information mixed into the story!  It would be worth reading just for that!  The more we use them, the more brilliant they seem to me.  They seem to fit so well with the idea of education being a life and an atmosphere…They promote cursiosity in the world around them, and help them to realize that things in life are connected; that we don’t just learn subjects in school for no reason.

My DS8 looks for Orion’s belt every night now.

I hope you will be able to get them.  I don’t think you would regret it.  Smile

    Blessings,

    Yolie
