I’ll be doing K this year with my DD (aged 5.5). She is showing some interest in “school”– can anyone give me a daily or weekly example of what K can look like?

For kindergarten we do Bible, scripture memory, and catechism during breakfast. We do a short reading lesson, a math lesson, and handwriting. It never takes more than forty five minutes for the sit down time.

And then we add in read alouds and nature walks. I have  9, 8, 6, and 4 yr olds. My two younger ones sit in on some stuff, but not everything.

Thanks so much, Michelle!  That is VERY similar to what I was thinking. What catechism do you use and how do you go about it in a CM way?

I was also thinking of doing a reading, math, and handwriting lesson but I’m nervous about doing them back-to-back. What have you found works best?

My third is entering k. We are planning to do a few minutes of handwriting daily, and then alternate days of reading game or math game. Then she will tag along with older sibs’ history and science. We do Bible and memory work all together first.

We use the this catechism before moving to the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

I’ve always tried to do lessons back to back. For our family it was just easier to make sure we finished everything for the day.
