So cool to hear this report!!!  It’s exciting to hear relief stories.

To the OP – I’d love to hear where you were in Fred when you began Teaching Textbooks.  I am in early days with DS6…I own both Fred and Teaching Textbooks…was wondering how much Fred I’ll do before I begin to couple it with TT.  I just haven’t had the time or notion to figure out when/how the two programs compliment one another and would love to have someone with the experience map it out for me!  Wink

Hi Angelina,  I’m not sure my answer is going to be very helpful for you.  We had been taking a sort of, math break, for a while.  We were doing mostly math games, iPad apps and MUS online drills.  Then I added in Life of Fred to start, doing two lessons a day.  We started with Apples, like the recommendations say to do regardless of age.  When we had been doing Life of Fred for about a month or so, I added in TT3 doing one lesson a day.  Since my ds is 9, both of these were easy for him.  No struggle at all.

Now, he has cut back LOF to one lesson per day, but he is doing two lessons of TT3.  He is doing extremely well. We use LOF for supplementing, fun and he loves to read 🙂  I hope to keep doing LOF and TT from now on.  I love how TT takes the pressure off of me!  With three other kids, (dd 5 and twin dd2) I love how it teaches it, helps him through it and keeps track of the “grades.”  He likes that it is on the computer and is less stressful because *I* am not stressed anymore about math 🙂

So, that is how we use the two together.  There was no magical place where they seemed to mesh together perfectly or anything.  It was more of a timing thing for me.  LOF is all over the place anyway 🙂  It is amazing the things that he learns from Fred.

    HTH is some way,

Thanks Jenn, I understand how it was different for you; still helpful!  Thanks for the reply.  Angie
