I am planning to use SCM for the 1st time next school year. (We have used My Father’s World and Ambleside year 1 in the past.)  I will have a 4th grader, 1st grader, a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I put all the kids in the 6 year cycle as Sonya shows in her youtube video and cant seem to figure out how to cycle through year after year and still get the required high school credits in for each kid once they hit high school. Is it ok to skip around in the cycle once they get to high school? Am I planning out too far in advance? help?!!?!?

Your planning too far in advance lol. Just plug along and when you get closer you can re-arrange things as you need to. You may end up with a kid who wants to take a class or has a special interest and needs something different than what you planned. My oldest DS asked to bow out of family time and just “get it done.” I really didn’t like it, but it has been good for him. Just plan next year. Its good to have the end in mind, but it never works out how we plan.

Thank you CrystalN, I really needed to hear that today!

I made this mistake with my senior and was about to do the same for my 9 year old twins by already planning their high school credits! 🙂  I came here to figure out how I’m going to fit in two 6 year cycles with the years left, but I’ve been reminded to only plan the next year. One day at a time…
