Next school year  I will be doing the first group of hymns that are recommended here at SCM ( I sing the mighty power of God , To God be the Glory etc. ) .  I am having problems  accessing the music to the songs. I have tried to browse through the big hymn site ….is it net hymnal ? or hymnary ?  I can find the info on the person who wrote the song and the sheet music , but not the actual music to listen to I am not savy with technology so any advice is appreciated !

I did go on you tube and type in the songs . I was able to find a few of them with church choirs singing the song. That definetly is helpful . I am just wondering if I am navigating the hymnary website wrong? Or is our Mac not compatible with the files for the music?

Are there any other websites that give access to the music/ audio portion of hymns?

    Thanks again 🙂

Unfortuantely, Apple removed the built in MIDI player from the latest operating system. That type of file is common on hymnary.org and will just download if you click them instead of playing like they used to. You can drag the downloaded file into a track in Garage Band to play them, though.

Ever since this topic came up I’ve been keeping my eye out for a free app that can play those MIDI files. After testing several, I would suggest trying Claviatura from the Mac app store. It’s free but it will display a pop up trying to get you to upgrade to the pro version every time you start the app. If you can live with that then it should play those MIDI files for you.
