How to move on using Diane Craft multiplication cards

I have been using Diane Crafts’s multiplication story cards with my DD.  As long as I show her the cards she can answer all the multiplication quickly.  I cover the answer and she can sees the rest and gets them correct.  But, when I write them out on paper, she misses or just doesn’t know a lot of them.  We have been using these since September.  How do I move beyond the cards?  I have been also been introducing the division.  I write one of the facts on the paper (ex: 12/3) and if she doesn’t know it, then I show her the multiplication card while covering the division answer (in this case 4).  She does pretty well at these, we haven’t done all of them yet.  How do I help her know the answer without looking at the card and pictures?

    Thanks

My guess is that she needs more time. If she doesn’t resist using the cards, keep doing what you are doing. Maybe if you wrote the fact on the back(without pictures) you could slowly introduce the facts without pictures as she knows them.  With Snapwords from Child1st.com the author has the word with no pictures on the back of each card. She said to drop the visuals as soon as the child knows it, because they can see the visual in their mind. Not sure if that helps or not. You could always ask Diane Craft or Child 1st.

We do still use the cards.  There is some work with numbers in a dyslexia program we’re using that she hasn’t finished, maybe when we finish that it will be better.  Thanks for the suggestions.  I think I’ll continue for know as we’ve been doing and hopefully given some more time it will all click.
