Hi, Ladies, I am wondering how many of us will use DR this coming fall. I just started using this with my 8yr. old son Ethan.

I started it with my dd 5.5 this spring, am taking some time off for the summer, and will be coming back to it in the fall.  We are enjoying it so far.  She was already reading somewhat when we started, but we are finding it helpful for filling in the gaps and building fluency.

We are using it for both our 4 year old (for the record- I wasn’t planning to start teaching reading to this one, but she’s learned her letters passively, and asked me to teach her!) and our 8 year old.  Of course they’re both in different parts of the program, and for the 8 year old, it’s more for building fluency as she is already reading; they both like it Laughing

I’m just starting it with my 7 1/2yos whom we adopted from China last year.  He’s so anxious to begin.

Oh good, it’s nice to know others will be using it too. My 8yr. old can read cvc and some words with the long vowel, but is not fluent yet. He still sounds out lots of words. I thought DR looked perferct for him when it came out.

I am using it for my 8yo (he is reading pretty well but needs some work still) and my 5yo.  So glad it came out!  I will use it with my younger 3 when they are ready.

I am also using it for my 6,5yos…switched to it from Sonlight LA and it seems so much more simple and natural.  We are currently working through the long vowel words although he can already read many other words on his own, so we are going through it quite quickly at this stage, but it is giving such a great solid foundation with the word building, he’s enjoying it much more.

    Hope you will enjoy it!

    Hey Robin,

I would love to hear what you love about Delightful Reading and Reading Made Easy and the aspects of each that may be hard. I am earnestly looking at both of these to start with my 5 year old this next year. He is my third out of 5 (come December). I hope to find a program that would take aprroxiametly 15 mintues, is low prep time,  and most of all- one that will cause my children to love reading. With my older two children I used Treadwell Readers and made all of my materials following a CM philosophy. It was great, but I spent a lot of time preparing for each lesson. I do not have the luxury of time anymore. I am asking you particulary, because I see that you have used both. Anyone else’s responses would be wonderful as well.   -Thanks Kalle

I’m bumping this up because I see Kalle’s question was for those who’ve used BOTH Reading Made Easy and Delightful Reading (such as Robin Smile ).  I, too, would love to know. Thanks ~ Heather
