How do I find all the information for planning high school? What do you do once you’ve used both of the enrichment studies guides for the other two years? Is there a spot where all the high school information is linked on the website?
Thanks
RuralmamaParticipantHere are a few scattered thoughts;)
- This book could be very helpful https://simplycharlottemason.com/store/your-questions-answered-high-school/
- You can use the enrichemnt plans as a guide and pick new composers, artists….
- Here is the hub for planning your own school year. There are highschool ideas imbeded in each subject. https://simplycharlottemason.com/build-your-own-curriculum/
- I know that Dr Wile’s high school science courses are recommended so that the student is doing science not just reading about it.
- HighSchool individual subject suggestions are here. https://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/individual-graded-subjects/
Tamara BellModeratorHi Rivergal!
Ruralmama has offered great support and suggestions!
You can continue to utilize our history plans. At the back of each guide, you will find a recommended credit break down for high school.Concerning Enrichment Studies, you can utilize the Enrichment Year suggestions found on the Build your Own Curriculum page that Ruralmama shared. You can plug in the new suggestions into the schedule of Individual Studies volume 1 and 2. Once you have worked through all 4 years of suggestions, you can start over again. Charlotte often had students revisit Shakespeare plays, artists, etc. It’s like meeting up with an old friend and getting better acquainted. If you’d prefer, you can plug in artists, composers, poets, etc that you would prefer.
To help you schedule your Individual Studies, our post 5 Steps to Planning Your Charlotte Mason Education can help.
Remember that high school is simply a step up from what your kiddo has already been doing. You’ll ask for 1 more written narration a week in 9th and 10th grade if he/she is ready and in 11th and 12th grade you’ll bump up the expectation again. Literature will be a little deeper than before but that is the same thing that has happened all along the way. We keep meeting our kiddos right where they are and then give them a slight nudge towards “more.”
RiverGalParticipantCould you point me to what they use as far as individual studies? I notice it doesn’t go up that high. How do you know what they need and how to schedule grammar, etc.?
