    Hello there!
Question for anyone who has used First Start Reading from Memoria Press – Have you been able to transition to a CM way of reading instruction after completing? We are onto book B and it is working well for my daughter. I am just trying to figure out how we will transition when the program is over. I wonder if we would them move on to Pathway readers or the Tredwell and Free readers and if so how that would be done! If you have any experience with this I’d love to hear from you! Thanks!

I’d finish out the beginning reading from memoria press for continuity. So that means do their summer bridge reading and 1st grade reading (at least the early part with the phonics readers) and their 1-2 spelling. You wouldn’t have to do the workbooks with the 1st grade reading… Just read the books. They are good children’s picture books. If your child likes to read or you want more practice use the pathway or free and Treadwell behind her ability for easy fluency practice. Start with the 1st one. That’s kind of what I am doing with old Alice and Jerry readers because my kids like them. It is great and important to have some “easier” reading to build stamina, enjoyment, and fluency. I think it is important to actually finish your early reading program so there are no holes- especially if its going well;)

You also could get the 1st grade workbooks and do them orally as a discussion with your child. You don’t have yo just answer the questions…you arn’t even supposed to use them that way. In the school the discuss each question and then write an answer together to copy into their books. You can also buy PDFs of only the reading plans to use instead of all of 1st grade or whatever. It is really quite flexible.
