    Hi there

I am on the lookout for good dvd’s for my kids to watch and enjoy with our geography and history studies to make it more alive. For instance to have a dvd to go with Romans history studies but also dvd’s for example about China culture now. Boxsets will be great – if there is any suggestions. Maybe someone has a list of dvd’s or series that she is willing to share.

What about Liberty’s Kids for American colonies and revolution?

Second Drive Thru History AND Liberty’s Kids.  We also like How the States Got Their Shapes.  The States from the History Channel is fun.  Wild China is awesome.  Vision Forum has the Soldiering Through History DVDs that we’ve really enjoyed.  Jeff Corwin has some great nature/animal videos that also so some geography (he visits a specific country or region on each episode).

Thanks for the reply all. We are from South Africa so I will see what I can get and work here. Only Region2 DvD’s work here in our country. I once wanted to buy Unlocking the great Pyramid that somebody suggested but that is only for region 1 countries. Does somone knows how I we can watch Dvd’s on youtube without having it stop the whole time?

This is the link to Unlocking the Great Pyramid.  You may watch it for free with this link.

I am sorry I can’t help you with the pausing – the only thing I can think of is that you do not get enough gigs from your internet carrier to support a video without pause.  I had that happen once – the company promised 10 gigs but we were so far from their office we only got 1.5.  It made a big difference in our ablilities to watch anything, much less a long video.

oh, we liked Liberty’s Kids as well! I wonder if you can watch these on Netflix, Hulu, or buy them from iTunes or Amazon video? One thing we did when we had very slow internet was to start the video, pause it, let it finish loading (watch the grey bar usually) and then play it after it had finished loading. This worked with most things, I could start them a good bit ahead of when we wanted to watch them, and come back later to watch without all the pauses.

You won’t believe it but if I go into Netflix website it says: Sorry Netflix is not available in your country. The Drive Thru DVD’s look great. I think I’ll get those. Tristan, is the Liberty Kids just about America?

Is there may be somebody else that  have a name of a series DVD’s  of culture, lifestyle and people of different countries? Something like a boxset of all the countries?

We have watched several Rick Steves DVDs.  They are video travel guides, but he talks a lot about culture and geography and such.  They are grouped by continent or country.  They are surprisingly fun!
