  • Hi,

I have not done any formal geography w/ my older girls, I also have 2 other younger kids I could do geography with, 1st and 3rd grade. I am wanting a geography program the older girls can do on their own…any suggestions? I am having a hard time getting things done and need something they can do on their own and/or with the younger children. My older daughter really likes to have things she can do by herself.

    Thanks!

Have you looked into A Child’s Geography? It’s designed for the younger grades, but it would work well if your older ones guided the younger ones through it.

The only other one that comes to mind is the one that Dean Andreola recommends in the CBD catalog, Welcome to the Wonderful World of Geography series. I haven’t seen it personally, but I usually give Andreola’s recommendations a second look. Has anybody used these books by Brenda Runkle? They’re listed as grades 6 and up.

    Kim,

I second the book ‘A Child’s Geography’ by Ann VosKamp. I used it this year for 3 of my kids, grades 2, 4, and 6. We LOVED it. She also has a second book ‘Exploring the Holy Lands’. We can’t say enough about it!!
