I know a lot of you use Visits to… but my children dread the books that go along with it. Can we just use it to memorize the places in the world instead. Maybe find books on the country we are studying? Also Which Visits to do we use for Modern History? I do have the Uncle Joshes outline maps to use.

What ages are your children?  If they are younger, perhaps you could edit the statistics and that kind of information on the fly and just read the short articles about the family themselves.  My children always enjoyed looking at the pictures in Material World and Hungry Planet, but we started using them when my oldest was in 9th grade and the youngest was in 6th.

To my knowledge, there isn’t a Visits….book for Modern History yet, although you could certainly substitute any one you haven’t done.  I believe Sonya is still working on North and South America.

I believe some here have used Ann Voskamp’s A Child’s Geography: Explore His Earth for grades 2-6 World Geography.  It does not get into specific cultures or nations, but it gives an overview of the world itself and its physical features, if that is something you would be looking for.

North America and South America are both available. 🙂 The only one we still need to publish is Visits to Asia.

My children are 17, 13, 11, 8. Although my 17 ds wont be doing geography with us. So just the 3 younger ones.
