I am going back a few pages under the Forum Topics, and I find it will only go back as far as page 2, even though it shows “1 2 3 …. 1,473” at the bottom. If I click on the page number, 3, it says Error 404 – Page not found. If I click on page number, 1,473, same message. Same thing if I click on the right arrow next to the page numbers.
Please help! I need to update a thread I posted recently.
Thanks,
Sue
Jordan SmithKeymasterSo sorry about the problem! Doug is looking into this, but he’s at a conference this weekend so it may be a little bit before we have it fixed.
SueParticipantI did find myself a work-around so I could update my older thread….I just went into my profile, found it in “topics created,” clicked on the post, and voila! It let me into it. Haven’t checked yet to see if I can go back further under the topic list, though.
Thanks!
SueParticipantNope, it still won’t let me click on page 3 or older without bringing up the error message.
SueParticipantJust wondering if a solution has been found for this issue. I tried clicking on the “3” at the bottom to go to that page of forum topics, and it still gives me the error message.
Jordan SmithKeymasterDoug is still trying to figure out what is causing this problem.
SueParticipantOkey-dokey, thanks.
SueParticipantNot to bother you guys, but I’m wondering if you are any closer to a fix for this bug….
It’s coming up on 1 year since I first posted about this, and I always like to celebrate the one-year anniversary of my more monumentous posts by throwing a party. I need to know whether to order a cake and how much I’ll need….anyone want in on this? It’s half chocolate fudge and half banana cake. It’s also half traditional and half gluten-free, which is an effort in itself–getting the all-purpse flour to stay on its side of the cake while baking.
SueParticipantOh, wow….it’s actually just over a year since I first posted this. I’d better get busy making the cake!
Doug SmithKeymasterI’m sorry that this has been a problem for such an incredibly long time. It’s a very complex thing to solve and it’s also based in the open-source forum software we use, which is relying on volunteers to make fixes and get the next version out. It’s beyond my ability to fix personally and my attempts so far at getting it solved, including paying for help, have not been able to move it forward yet.
We’ll keep pushing at it, though. It is not forgotten.
SueParticipantNo big deal….I’ll send the volunteers some cake!
Doug SmithKeymasterGreat idea Sue! I’m actually planning on taking one of them, who lives not too far away, a selection of my homemade ice creams.
We have a new tech guy (Steve) who started working with us this week. Once he gets settled in a bit I’m going to have him see if he can figure out a solution. He takes great joy in solving hard problems.
Doug SmithKeymasterWhen our kids were young they would play that someone was broken. The repair was always as easy as them saying “fix, fix, fix” while waving their hands around the pretend broken object.
Well, I’m happy to report that our new guy, Steve, just did a “fix, fix, fix” on the forum for us!
Please try it out and let us know if there are still any problems with it.
StephanyParticipantIT WORKS!! YAY!!! Ad new to SCM and CM in general, I am VERY happy about this because I can read more posts now! Thanks!
SueParticipant@ Steve: “Mommy told me if things don’t turn out just the way you want them to the first time, you still got to believe. And I kept believing, and you were right, Mommy. Mr. Steve is Santa Claus.”
(paraphrasing “Miracle on 34th Street”)
Cake, anyone? Save a big piece for Steve, our hero.
