We will be using Module 2 next year and I am planning books and activities.   We used mod. 1 this year and the only thing I found to be missing is activities.  We like to do lots of hands on projects just to keep things mixed up a bit.  So I am wondering, what did you guys add, if anything, as far a hands on projects go for the Greeks?

    Hi AllG5,

Be sure to check out the links and tips that go along with each module.  Here’s the one for Module 2.

We were mainly inspired by the art and architecture in this module.  We took a trip to a museum and it was fascinating to pick out the characters painted on the cups and vases and to quiz each other on the different column types.  You could easily sculpt some of the Greek cups or make scratch art to mimic the paintings.

We have two boys, six and nine, so they were mainly into drawing labyrinths, maps and making helmets, spears and swords.  We’ll make a Greek meal to finish out the end of the year.

Looking forward to hearing from others and what you come up with as well.

    Best,

    Richele

Thanks, Richele.  Those are some good ideas.  I forgot about the links.  I also found an activity book i picked up last week at a used book sale.  Its called “Ancient Greece Activity Book” it has ideas for making warships, pottery, simulating a Greek market place, games, clothing, recipes.  This should keep us busy!  But keep the ideas coming!
