So I was thinking about poetry. How do you do this? Do you just pick one poet and read there poems once a week?
Also, has anyone ever split the terms up and done say Term 1 : Poetry, Term 2: Composer Term 3: Art/Picture?
Just revisiting for next year.
sherazParticipantWe pick a poet, composer, and an artist and do our studies for a 6 week run. Sometimes we read one poem everyday, sometimes once or twice a week. I think that may change as the poems get a little more intense (Longfellow – I think I want my girls to have time to think about what he said in that really loooonnngg poem =) ).
I think you could do it that way, but I also think that breaking it up through out the year might help you to retain an appreciation for it. =) Over load of a subject could cause someone to develop a distaste for that subject, math being a good example, heehee.
BookwormParticipantFor poetry, we pick a poet and read one poem daily for at least a couple of weeks. We often repeat favorites before we move on to a new one.
I like to do the poet, music and artist first thing in the mornings. I wouldn’t like trying to cram each one into a term. We like to “live” with our poet or artist or whoever for a while.
