Do I need to do Pathway Readers?

Hello! This is my first year doing Charlotte Mason – my 2nd year homeschooling. My daughter is 7, almost 8, but she is an advanced reader. She is reading long chapter books on a regular basis. According to the “Individual studies – lesson plans for grade 3”, I should have her read aloud New Friends, etc (Pathway Readers).

If she is an advanced reader, do you think this is necessary? Can I choose something else for her to read aloud to me?

“Teach the child, not the curriculum.” Have her read good books at her reading level and have her narrate to you on a daily basis. It is not necessary to have her read books below her reading level. The Individual Studies are a guide for parents who need a little help putting everything together. Tweak what you need to in order to teach your child what she needs.
