I am so glad I read this thread! I originally was going to order Delightful Reading for my 5 year old, but then was swayed by my own doubts (“Will the reading selections be too challenging for a beginning reader?”) coupled with some negative comments I had read on another forum.  So I bought Get Ready, Get Set, and Go for the Code plus Explode the Code Book 1 on the recommendation of someone.  I haven’t used them yet as we haven’t officially started school, but in the meantime, I began teaching my daughter some sight words (color words–red, yellow) using letter tiles in a manner very similar to what I had seen in the DR intro video.  My daughter loved our mini lesson!  She was so excited that she could read the words and even could spell them after I had placed all the letter tiles back in alphabetical order.  Now I am thinking that I should have just bought DR in the first place!

Today was our first day back to school and my ds asked,”Are we were getting out that box with all of those square letters?”

Now he’s older than your dc and he’s still learning but he still enjoys his box of goodies.
