Delightful Handwriting; realistic goals?

I thought when I ordered the Delightful Handwriting kit that it would include the teacher book, but I guess it didn’t. It only comes with the student workbook.  That’s Ok; I just wondered, do I simply follow the pages in order (they seem self-explanatory with the guided practice liines etc) perhaps with multiple copies to practice as needed for good form? If the teacher guide is not absolutely necessary, what would be a realistic goal for completion (mastery) of the entire workbook? Do most spread this writing program out over one school year (with intentions of basic copywork by 1st grade)? My youngest (5yr) is starting this fall; i am excited (and nervous!) She is my first to start homeschool form the beginning.  If the book is needed, I will order it; just asking.  Thanks!

I used it last year with my ds when he was 5.5 yo.  I had the teacher’s manual but it is not necessary.  Just follow the pages in order and you will be fine.  I did one page per day but we did not school 5x’s a weeks.  I’m not sure how long it took us but we were started in June and finished by the next spring.   We will start yr1 in September and I will be doing some letters and short words.  I bought the student ebook so I will probably start with a review of some of the DH lessons.  Each lesson in DH took 5 minutes tops and I plan on copywork for yr 1 to be about the same.  HTH

Great! That sounds like a plan to me.  I have never formally taught one from “scratch”, so I wasn’t sure what the average expected time for completion was for learning to “write letters”.  If I can remember that far back, we didn’t even start the “letter people” cards until the 2nd grade (in upstate N.Y.)!
