I know that this a thread for boys, but I did want to mention that for those of your with young women, Leslie Ludy has written a book called Authentic Beauty that focuses on first having a love relationship with our true Prince, Jesus Christ. It is an excellent book, and when I finished reading it, I passed it on to a friend for her 13-year old daughter. (As a side note, I picked it up out of my own curiousity, because I realized while standing in the bookstore one day that I knew Leslie Ludy when she was in elementary school, that she was indeed the same young lady who invited me to AWANA, and whose parents would pick me up and take me, because my parents and I didn’t go to church and Leslie wanted me to learn about Jesus. I was so sad when they moved, and always wondered what happened to her. Now I know! 😉 )

April, that is a real neat story! It is great to know and hear about people who love and point people to Jesus all along life’s way. The Ludy’s do also have books for boys. I love their testimonies!
Chocodog, although I have not seen the videos you mention we are also S.M.Davis fans. We have lots of his CDs!
This has been a great discussion. I’m truly thankful for you all :). I’ve reserved a copy of “When God Writes Your Love Story” from our library and would like to get “Courtship that Glorifies God”. Also, @chocodog, can you tell me what SM Davis video you recommend? I’m praying for open communication to continue with my son. I grew up in a non-Christian home and the dating world consumed me at his age – far too many heartbreaks and sin consequences are with me to this day. But…with God there is hope!

Heather, I know what you mean, far too many heartbreaks for me as well – the only real consolation for me, is that I have some experience to relay to my daughters about my own late teen years, that it does give them something realistic to hang their own ideas on. They told me my experiences have really helped them understand the heartache of casual dating, and how boys and girls are differently wired. I am glad God has helped me through my own experience be a wise counsel to them now. Linda
Ugh, at a book sale this weekend, I passed up a book that sounded vaguely familar, but I couldn’t remember why or where I’d heard it, or if it was supposed to be good or bad. It was “When God Writes Your Love Story!” ACH!!!! Oh-well….

“7 Bible truths violated by Christian Dating” is my favorite because it goes into depth why we feel the way we do about our children dating and what we should do about it. It also goes into depth about Bible verses and what they tell us about dating. He also goes into what the word “dating” meant back in the 1800’s. I think my 2nd tape would probabaly be “Victory over the Dating Spirit” It was a very interesting DVD. Good Luck and God Bless
