  • That’s wonderful! Sounds like you’ve found some winning combinations for him — that is such a blessing! I was going to add more from my earlier post, but it sounds like you’ve got it coming together nicely. Yay!

FWiW, my young ones (all wiggly) love to observe nature. We have bird feeders, bird book with stickers to use when you see the bird, nature table to collect nature lore…you get the idea. I just didn’t recall seeing you say anything about nature…maybe you did. We went through the same process you did and I learned it’s okay to hold off with the formal stuff s little while (thinking 8ish). I look at this time to start the habits and really learn how to connect with each of their unique learning styles. Also, math while swinging, jumping on trampoline…
My kids are allergic to sitting…so am I!

I am planning on getting back to nature studies tomorrow.  I haven’t been doing nature studies because we were doing the AYE Astronomy and I just didnt have enough time to add more to my plate.  I am now seeing how important it is to get Ds7 out of the house and exploring outside.  I’m not keen on the idea of going outside in the cold and rain.  I do so much better during the warmer months.  Ds7 loves birds.  Loves. Birds.  (Funny thing is that it stemmed from his love of the Angry Birds game).  We bought some bird feeders to hang outside and we spend our breakfast observing them as quite a few different types of birds like to come by.  I bought him the Dover coloring book of Birds and a cute little Dover sticker book that goes over some common types.  We also have a junior birding book and I have been reading him The Burgess Bird Book.  So as you can see, we have done some.  Today went by so much easier than expected that I almost don’t know what to do with all the extra time!
