Creation-based field guides?

I would love your advice in this…we have a five-year-old rock hound and are looking for creation-based field guides or pocket guides to rocks & minerals as well as fossils.  While I’m thinking about it, we would love creation-based field guides in all areas as  I’m tired of identifying birds in a guide that begins with saying they evolved from dinosaurs.  Do such creation-based field guides exist?  If so, which do you recommend?

    Thanks so much.

Hey Richele,  Check out http://www.creationsensation.net .  They have field guides offered in their store.  I couldn’t look inside them at all, but if anyone would carry creation based field guides they would.  Check into it and see if you can find anything you like. Smile

    Great question, Richele!

I’ve wondered about this too. I know that Answers in Genesis have whats called the “Zoo Guide” which indentifies over 100 animals. However, I don’t know of a specific bird or fossil guide that they have, but it might be worth visiting the website to find out http://www.answersingenesis.org

I look forward to hearing the other responses too.

I have to agree with Heather & would highly recommend Answers in Genesis.  They have a kids section on their website that has an animal of the week.  Our sons, ages 8 and 11, think Answers in Genesis totally rock!  We have used so many Answers in Genesis resources with our boys from a very early age.  I can’t remember specifically if they have field guides as you were asking.  I have seen some pocket guides in their bookstore but can’t remember the content.  I would be interested in checking it out myself.  We have the Zoo book that Heather mentioned & love it.  I would recommend checking their bookstore where you can look for books, DVDs in a specific age group.  They have lots of good book for education and leisure reading.  I also would recommend anything from Buddy Davis on that site.  We have a 2 cassette tape set of lots of fun creation songs that Buddy Davis sings.  Again the boys love it.  They still sing those songs.

If any of you live close enough to the Creation Museum near Cincinnati, OH and are interested in a great family field trip or just a great family outing, the Creation Museum is AWESOME!!!  My boys say it is better than Disney World.  It is absolutely breath-taking.  It is a must see!  Laughing

Looking forward to hearing more.  Hope this helps.

We are planning a visit to the Creation Museum this year or next.  Angie how much time do you think we should plan on to see what we need to, and to do it justice.  My daughters are 17 so we will get around a little faster than we would if we had little ones, not so many breaks needed etc.  Just curious to hear what you say.  Thanks – Linda

Richele, I was looking on your posts to find one about Jacobs and came across this. 🙂 Did you ever find a creation based field guide?? I have been looking for the same thing! I did purchase two Peterson field guides to make due. I also wish someone would make books similiar in style to DK, but from a creation stand point. sigh…

I am not Angie, but our family visited the Creation Museum two years ago.  We gave ourselves 2 days to see it all, and I think that was perfect.  To me, it is too much to properly assimilate in just one day.
