Hi, newbie here trying out the CM Organizer. I’ve tried to find this question in the posts but cannot do here it goes…

We are using curriculums that vary in lesson lengths or we do multiple lessons as we discover the child has mastered the work. This means some days we don’t finish a full lesson (fine, we mark as works done) but some days we finish a lesson from the next day.

How do I mark ‘upcoming assignment’ as worked on. I can see how to show upcoming assignments but it seems I need to wait for it to show up in Today’s schedule as planned by the Organizer before I can mark any progress towards it.

Or alternatively is there a way to schedule mutiple “divisions” per day?

reading the product description, this appears to be a feature “If you do one of Wednesday’s assignments on Monday, you can easily record it. If you completed more than one assignment today, just mark off everything you accomplished. ” But how do I access this feature? 🙂

If the lesson you need to mark off is scheduled for a different day, you’ll find it in the Not Scheduled for Today section at the bottom of the Daily Plan. That’s what we mean by, if you complete Wednesday’s assignment on Monday, you can mark it off on Monday.

The CM Organizer will always show you the next lesson for your resource. So if you complete more than one lesson, mark off the first one and the next one will appear for you to mark off as well. Sometimes it’s helpful to think of it as a Pez dispenser. It will hand you the next lesson until there are no more lessons in the resource.

If you complete, say lesson 2 before lesson 1, you can edit the schedule for the resource and use the division selector to rearrange the order of the lessons so that lesson 2 comes first. Once you save that schedule, the new order will be used on the Daily Plan.

That’s a bit cumbersome experience and doesn’t match the reality which is there are situations that 2 lessons or 3 lessons per day can be done but one may linger not completely finished due to remaining activity for example. However, there isn’t an easy way, short of manually creating a resource myself to specify multiple divisions per day. In my opinion it’s not natural to assume that all divisions must be serial. For example, some lessons have leftover books to be read and repeated multiple days but that shouldn’t prevent me from starting another lesson the same day before this one is completed. Having to move the assignments around in the schedule is really a hack, since it’s just a reality that some things will start earlier but span multiple days.

It would be really nice to just be able to open the upcoming assignments and edit their progress from the daily planner.

Thank you for your help and consideration of this feature. I think it spans beyond lessons to multiple chapter reading per day, etc…

Thanks for explaining what you’re looking for. We don’t have that feature available at this time, though I’ll note the ideas for future consideration. If another scheduler or method of scheduling works best for you, we encourage you to use that.
